Imbolc

Join me as a special guest of Dr. A for a two-hour sacred journey to welcome Imbolc (pronounce Imolk) and the turning of the Celtic Wheel of the Year.

We will begin our workshop by meeting and greeting the great flame-headed Goddess Brigid.  She will be our guide as we journey through the terrain of the turning of the wheel and the mid-point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox. Imbolc means “in the belly” and we will look at what is brewing within us, our psyches, and in our lives.

Once we have invited Brigid into our sacred circle, I will guide participants in a ritual to honor the potency of inspiration that comes with increasing light.  I will then guide us all through an inner journey to meet Brigid and ask her for the inspiration to create anew!

We will have plenty of time to join in conversation within our sacred circle.

Please bring a candle, glass of milk or dish of honey. You are also encouraged to bring your journal for reflections and notes. You will receive a link on how to make a Brigid’s Cross for those interested.

Winter Solstice

Join Dr. A. and her special guest, Medicine Woman, Celtic expert and guide to the Other World,

Dr. Nicola Tannion, for a two-hour sacred journey to welcome the return of the light

and the turning of The Celtic Wheel of the Year.

We will begin our workshop by meeting and greeting the Cailleach, known as the Veiled One,

the Goddess of Winter. She will be our guide as we journey through her terrain of the shortest

days of the year, illuminating the themes of darkness and potent dormancy.

Once we have entered the Celtic Otherworld, Nicola will guide participants in a ritual to

honor the liminal light. Then she will guide us all through an inner journey to meet our old

wise woman/hags.

We will have plenty of time to join in conversation within our sacred circle.

Please bring a red or orange candle, a sprig of Mistletoe (real or artificial), and a journal for reflections and notes.

This is the second Women's Wisdom Village Workshop celebrating the Celtic Wheel of the Year.

There will be events that celebrate the upcoming Celtic holidays throughout the year.

New Directions in Mythological Studies Seminar

First came Neith, Gaia, Tellus, Anat, Shiva, Isis, Minarope, the Spider grandmother, divine feminine figures who created the world, in origin stories ranging from Egypt to the Pacific Islands, from Benin to the Americas. Then came the masculine: he seized power, took control, took credit, creating gods in his image and shaping the world for his benefit. Forced underground, her voice silenced, and her practices proscribed, the feminine now inhabits the liminal space of pariahs, mystics, and witches. But today, the world is seeing a rise of the feminine through a rediscovery of the myths, a retelling of the stories and a questioning of the male as a default perspective. Join us as we explore those recent changes through talks by Dr Nicola Tannion (Independent Scholar), Dr Carmen Sanchis Sinisterra (U. of Mississippi), and Dr Julie Hugonny (U. of St Andrews).

Grieving In Extraordinary Times

Grieving in Extraordinary Times

Live webinar via Zoom / FREE Registration is Essential
Tuesday, June 9, 2020

11:00 to 12:00 pm PT / 2:00 to 3:00 pm ET

About this Webinar
Experiencing and processing loss and grief is difficult enough during ordinary circumstances. Grief is a messy, complicated, and often a lonely emotional journey for which there is no single or correct way to navigate. Right now there are so many aspects to the death and non-death losses we are experiencing individually, in our communities, and globally. We may or may not be impacted personally by death loss but we are all connected to the loss of our normal routines and to the losses within our communities, nations, and across the globe. Human losses come in in two key forms: death loss and non-death loss. Grief is intimately connected to both types of loss and in the anticipation of a loss.

Each of us will connect to these aspects in various ways and levels of intensity depending upon our personal circumstances. The more aspects of our lives that are touched by the current situation, the complexity of our grief grows exponentially. Understandably, people are struggling emotionally, psychologically, and spiritually. Nothing about the processing of grief is normal during this time period, in part because the foundation of our world has shifted so dramatically. Learning to identify what losses are impacting our lives, how it is affecting us and techniques for narrating the process is essential for our well-being and healing.

Learning Goals:
Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the multitude death and non-death loss situations that can cause grief in our lives during this uncertain time. Beginning with ourselves we will start with the personal and expand to understand the global impact of grief.

We will examine the impact loss has on the brain and why grief can be difficult to navigate and why it will not be held to a particular time-line. Participants will learn to name each of the five stages of grief as defined by Kübler-Ross, and the sixth stage recently defined by David Kessler. We will also lean on the work of various other loss and grief experts.

Lastly, we will explore the three key aspects needed for community healing after tragedy in order to process our own loss effectively and be better change agents for our communities.
